WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF ADDITIONAL STAYOVER HOSTS FOR BOTH DATES

ESPECIALLY MALE HOSTS!

**Host applications will continue to be accepted as long as hosts are needed**

Stay-Over Dates are:  Thursday, April 3 (Week 1) & Thursday, April 10 (Week

2)

Online Application:

http://web.due.uci.edu/chp/documents/2008%20CHP-SOP%20Host%20App.pdf

You will be doing the CHP a big favor if you agree to host.  StayOver has a profound impact on the prospective freshmen who attend!

FAQ for StayOver Hosts:

-  All Hosts get a free t-shirt and meal card (if you don’t have a meal plan) to use with your guest at the commons

- You can volunteer to host for one or both dates

- Applications are available in the Honors Office, online, or from a CHP HA/RA

- There will be organized activities in Mesa Court on April 3rd and AV on April 10th, so you don’t have to entertain your guest all by yourself the entire time!

- You don’t have to live in an honors house/hall to host; if you live anywhere in Mesa Court, Middle Earth, or Arroyo Vista, you are welcome and encouraged to host!

- Even if you have a late class like a lab, you can have a friend or another stay-over host meet and pick-up your guest for you and then join them when you’re done!

- Even non-CHP students living in an honors hall/house can host!

- You can host 2 guests on the same night if you want!  Indicate on your application is you are willing to host multiple guests on the same night.

Things to do with your guest:

- Visit the ARC

- Take them to the University Center

- Tour the Campus

- Visit the other honors freshman hall(s) (depending on where you’re living)

- Take them to class with you

- Bring them to Coffee Hour the next morning

SEVERAL IMPORTANT REMINDERS

New Fee Payment Deadline

Starting with Spring 2008 tuition fees and beyond, the fee deadline will now be the 15th of the month, except when the 15th is a weekend, the deadline will be the following Monday.  As a result, Spring 2008 fees will be due on Monday, March 17. There is no longer a ‘grace period’ for students missing the fee deadline: You will be dropped from your classes on March 17 if your payment is not received by the university. You will be receiving further notices about this soon, but we wanted to give you advanced warning.

Schedule your Research/Thesis & Senior Year Meeting!

If you are Graduating Next Year (In Fall 2008 or Winter, Spring, Summer 2009), or planning to do research and finish your honors thesis next year…

You need to meet with an Honors Advisor before the end of THIS academic year to discuss your research/thesis plans and senior year.  Regardless if you’ve already begun research, are still looking, or haven’t even thought about it yet, we need to talk!  This meeting is not optional, it is MANDATORY.  We will discuss what you should be doing to complete your honors research/thesis project and finish your CHP requirements.

Meetings on average will last about 30 minutes.  Please call the CHP office at (949) 824-5461 to schedule an appointment.  The person scheduling the appointment will need to know your school and projected date of graduation.

**If you are a current third year who is planning to delay graduation past Spring of 2009 and you haven’t informed us, please let us know!  This affects several deadlines and reminders that we will be communicating to you.
