Sacramento Internship Program
January 5, 2009 at 9:00 am by Jeff Fulkerson
Dear Anteaters,
The holidays are here early because the Career Center has an amazing opportunity for you! I know it’s getting cold as winter approaches, but warm up to the idea of summer in Sacramento!
My name is Kristin Oto and I am the Sacramento Internship Program (SIP) Coordinator at the Career Center. I am writing to extend an invitation to you and the members of your organization to apply for the Sacramento Internship Program, an enriching summer program.
SIP is a ten-week summer internship program that provides students with the opportunity to intern at the California State Capital in a variety of areas including legislation, social services, and the business sector. While enjoying the diverse historical and cultural activities the Sacramento area has to offer during the summer, students get to explore their career interests, build on their experiences, and develop their career skills.
Although SIP is a great way to experience public policy on a state level, it is not limited to strictly political opportunities. Past internship locations include: California Psychological Association, California Department of Education, KCRA News, Sacramento Probation Department, the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, offices of the Assembly and Senate, the California Democratic Party, the California Republican Party, and many non-profit organizations.
Please attend one of the following information sessions during Winter Quarter on the following dates and times:
Wednesday, January 7th 4-5pm
Tuesday, January 20th 6-7pm
Here is the SIP Summer 2009 Application for your reference. The application is due at the Career Center front desk by 5:00pm on Friday, January 23rd. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me at ucisip@uci.edu or call at (949) 824-7365.
Happy holidays!
Cheers,
–
