Submit your Pictures!
March 16, 2009 at 12:57 pm by Jeff Fulkerson
We need pictures for the end of the year slideshow, so if you have photos of you and your friends please let us know! It would be super spiffy if you could put them either on a CD or flashdrive. Then, you can either drop it off at the honors office or email Teresa Villaruz (tvillaru@uci.edu) and she will pick it up from you (and will make sure you get your CD and/or flashdrive back). We want pictures that are representative of the CHP population as a whole and the year we’ve spent together, so please submit as many photos as you can! Thanks!

CHP Involvement Rewards!
March 16, 2009 at 12:56 pm by Jeff Fulkerson
More than anything, what CHSC loves is to see CHPers participate in our events! That’s why, starting next quarter, we are implementing a rewards program for participation!! Points will be divided up into categories defined by the housing community you live in (the Shire, Loma, Arroyo, AV Houses, or our Commuter/VDC/VCDN/CV/off-campus housing category), and will be given depending on which event you attend. Points are as follows: CHSC events: 1 point, CHSC general meetings: 3 points, volunteering for Coffee Hour: 3 points, going to a TV taping: 3 points, and volunteering for ATS: 5 points. So come out to events, meetings, volunteer for fundraising, and you will earn points for your hall to work towards a pizza party at the end of the quarter! The first opportunity to earn points is our ATS fundraiser on the 21st and 28th. Getting involved has never tasted so good!
For more information, please visit the CHSC website.
Pro-Fro!
March 16, 2009 at 12:55 pm by Jeff Fulkerson
What is Pro-Fro? It stands for Prospective Freshmen Outreach, and we need YOUR help! Pro-Fro targets next year’s incoming students that have been accepted to the CHP and were unable to attend Honors Experience Day. This is a chance for you to share your UCI and CHP experiences with prospective freshmen and answer some of their questions. All you need to do is complete a EEE survey. All CHPers should have received an invitation to this survey, so if you did not get one, please let me know. You will get a candy bar and a pizza party for participating!

The Stay-Over Program needs CHP residents (you!) to host prospective CHP freshmen for one night on: April 2 or April 9, 2009. Applications are available online, from your HA/RA, at the Housing Outreach Services Office (4th floor of student center), and the CHP office. To host, you must live in the Shire, Arroyo, Loma, or an AV CHP house (no CV or VDC, sorry). Hosts will need to attend a 30 minute training session at 4pm on March 31. For more information, please feel free to contact the Stay-Over Program at (949) 824-5167, sop@uci.edu or the CHP office.
Application deadline has been extended through March 20, 2009. We are expecting about 40 guests on each night, and we only have about a dozen hosts! So sign up today! All hosts receive a free t-shirt!
Nominate your favorite Teacher!
March 2, 2009 at 2:47 pm by Jeff Fulkerson
Attention all First Years! Do you remember that special high school teacher/counselor who inspired you? Would you like to thank them?
Earlier this year Dean Salinger sent you an email, asking you to nominate your favorite teacher/ high school counselor for special recognition by UCI. All you need to do is click here and nominate your teacher.
Please take a moment now to nominate your favorite high school teacher/counselor. The deadline is March 10, but if you do it now, you won’t forget. If you nominate someone, you will be invited to a special reception in the spring, to which the awardees will also be invited. Yes, you will possibly get to see your favorite teacher again! So don’t delay; nominate your favorite high school educator today!

Yes, it’s homecoming week! You can check out all the homecoming events on the facebook page. Read about the homecoming court members here, and come to the basketball game at 7pm this Saturday (2/28) to see the king and queen crowned at halftime!
If you are looking for people to go with, there is a group of CHPers gathering in AV 1006 at 6pm, so you can join them and everyone can head over together. Support our basketball team as they take on UC Riverside!
