How To Join The CHP

There are two ways through which students may join the CHP:

  1. Many entering freshmen are invited to the Program while in their senior year in high school. No application is required. Based on the student's UC Irvine Admissions Application, faculty in the UCI school of the student's major make this selection. Invitational letters are sent in late February and are conditional upon the students' acceptance by UCI Admissions and completion of the UC Entry level writing requirement before students begin their coursework in the fall.

  2. Current students at UCI or students transferring to UCI may apply to join the Program. You may get an application from the CHP office or you may download it here, print it out, and turn it in after completing a quarter of study at UCI. Students must have a 3.5 GPA in college courses taken in order to be eligible for consideration; however, those who are chosen usually have GPAs higher than this minimum. Transfer students may also apply prior to admission.
