Honors Peer Academic Advisors

Alex Block
Hello everyone! My name is Alex Block, and I'm a 4th year Mathematics and Information & Computer Science double major. I am super excited to be one of your Peer Academic Advisors for the 2014-2015 school year and am looking forward to meeting everybody! I enjoy bike riding, going to the beach, playing video games, hanging out with friends, and lots of other things! I also work at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts as a Production Assistant for the xMPL, a job I've held since Freshman Year. Currently, I am the Webmaster for the Campuswide Honors Student Council (CHSC), and last year I was one of two Recruitment and Retention Chairs on CHSC. I am terrible with names, so I can't promise I'll know your name after the first (or even second) visit to the PAA office, but I will remember your face. Don't hesitate to come to the office for questions, comments, or just to chat with us! Visit often and let's have a great year!

Arlene Ho
Hello friends! My name is Arlene Ho and I am so excited to meet and work with you all this year! I am a 4th year double majoring in Human Biology and Psychology and I plan on applying to medical school. I am an Orange County girl, born and raised in the heart of Little Sài Gòn, so I love the Vietnamese culture and will always have something to say about my roots. I also love the UCI community and I have a passion for discovering the beauty of our campus. I am a member of various orchestras on campus and in the community, involved with the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) and the Union of the Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California (UVSA), and work at the Beckman Laser Institute as an undergraduate researcher. I also volunteer at CHOC Hospital and am a volunteer Girl Scout leader. I love playing any sports, especially tennis and badminton, so invite me any time! I am very open to talking or listening, and all of us PAAs will definitely be available this year if you ever need any advice or just an open ear, so stop by the CHP office and visit us!

Bo Lundqvist
What's hip-hop-and-happening, my fellow CHPers? My name is Bo Lundqvist and I am very excited to be one of your CHP Peer Academic Advisors this year! I am a 4th year Civil Engineering major with a Structural Engineering specialization. Currently, I am developing a research thesis that studies the possible uses of semi-active control systems to reduce the adverse effects of seismic events on structures. Beyond academics, I am the Design Captain for UCI's Steel Bridge Team and President of the university's chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honors Society. I love hanging out with friends, building LEGOs, drawing, painting, and playing games of any kind - board, video, and card. I also draw a comic strip called Slushie which you may see in the New U from time to time! I am truly looking forward to meeting and getting to know every one of you, so make sure to stop by my office hours some time! I would be more than happy to answer any questions about UCI, the CHP, Norway (my country of origin), or absolutely anything else that is on your mind. Of course, feel free to come in just to chat as well! I can't wait for the great year ahead!

Marissa Renyer
Hey CHPers! My name is Marissa Renyer and I am so excited to be one of your Honors PAAs. I am a 4th year Business Administration major, specializing in accounting, and a Chicano/Latino Studies minor. Team spirit is my thing. There's something amazing about being part of something bigger than yourself, being proud of what you do and letting other people know what you stand for. That basically means I love getting involved on campus, including being a University Studies 1 discussion leader, an intern at the Campus Assault Resources and Education (CARE) office, a founder and officer of Whovians at UCI, a Chaser on the Anteater Quidditch team, a member of Accounting Association, an advocate for student outreach, and a mentor for CHP and U/U. When I'm not in class or at a meeting I love watching British television, going to the movies, hanging out at Disneyland, and doing various nerdy things. I look forward to investing in relationships with each and every one of you as I know this year has a lot in store for all of us! Carpe diem!
