Honors Peer Academic Advisors

Patrick Brennock
Hey everybody! My name is Patrick Brennock, and I'm a third-year Biological Sciences major hoping to one day do research in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. I'm from Northern California, specifically a tiny little town called Ukiah, and I really look forward to serving the CHP community this year! I'm currently an undergraduate researcher in the James lab, which works to try to genetically engineer mosquitoes to help combat the spread of the various pathogens they carry. When I'm not studying or preparing to study, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, and playing videogames. My job as a PAA is to hold several events and be available in office hours, but more generally it is to be of service to the CHP community and be a resource to help anyone in the CHP. In that regard, please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you! If I could give one piece of advice to the incoming freshman, it would be to spend your time wisely. Believe me when I say that your time here will fly by before you know it, so be sure to make the most of it!

Mindy Chin
Hello friends! My name is Mindy Chin and I am a 3rd year Nursing major from Fremont, CA. I am ridiculously excited to meet you all and for the new relationships that are about to blossom. In addition to nursing classes and CHP, I am involved in various organizations including Alpha Tau Delta, Nursing Science Students Association, the Clinical Care Extender Internship at Hoag Hospital, Global Medical Brigades, and Crossroads Campus Ministry. My favorite activities include camping, hiking, and pretty much anything that involves soaking in Mother Nature. I have a passion for travel medicine; this past summer I had the privilege of volunteering in a rural part of Honduras as well as at a camp at Lake Tahoe. I also enjoy investing in relationships with other people so come to my office hours! If you have any questions about academics, adventures, or would simply like to chat, don't hesitate to drop by. I can't wait to meet you.

Julia Hillendahl
Hello CHP! My name is Julia Hillendahl, and I am very much looking forward to meeting and getting to know each and every one of you. I am a third year Psychology and Social Behavior major, with a minor in Educational Studies. If you see me again in five years, I will be working as a Kindergarten teacher, having just completed my Master of Arts in Teaching. For now, I am a PAA and an Undergraduate Research Assistant for the Learning from Teaching Research Group. I am also the Recruitment and Initiate Advisor for Phi Sigma Pi, the only co-educational National Honor Fraternity here on campus. I am extremely passionate about the things that I involve myself with, and I pour my heart and soul into everything I do, as well as several gallons of blood, sweat, and tears. When I finally get the chance to unwind, I really enjoy watching movies, reading on the beach, and relaxing with my friends. Now that I've told you my life story, it's time for me to hear yours! Send me an email! Stop me on Ring Road! Visit me during Coffee Hour! I'm all ears.

Barbara Spyrou
Hi everyone! My name is Barbara Spyrou and I'm so excited to be one of your Peer Academic Advisors this year! I am currently a third year Criminology, Law and Society Major with a Minor in Education. In addition to classes, I am a CHP Peer Mentor and was a Social Chair for CHSC this past school year. I have also been involved in research through the School of Education's Learning from Teaching Research Group. While school and research are some of my favorite pastimes, I also love reading, hanging out with friends, experimenting with food, and anything that has to do with aquatics. I am a nerd to the core and can talk about Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or most any TV show for hours on end. That being said, I really enjoy meeting new people and talking about a variety of topics so please feel free to come in and chat or ask me questions about UCI, CHP, social life, or anything at all! I can't wait to start off this fantastic year with each and every one of you!
